Job description

Workers will perform field work associated with vegetables, cultivation & harvesting including weed, water, harvest/pick, field packing, harvesting into containers, load into trucks. Workers will use hand tools, long hoes, shovels; clean irrigation ditches; set irrigation dams; set irrigation pipes. Workers may be asked to work in the packing shed to wash, sort, pack, ice & load vegetables onto trucks. Workers must be able to distinguish between vegetable plants & weeds. Care must be taken to prevent damaging the produce & plants. Workers will be instructed & trained in food safety rules pertaining to commodity production. They will also be trained in USDA Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Certification standards. Failure to abide by GAP standards will be grounds for dismissal. Some qualified workers will operate a tractor or truck if needed. Workers with an insurable drivers license within 30 days following hire, may be required to drive company vehicles, within a 50 mile radius from the farm.

Special Requirements

Mon-Sat, 40 hours per week, pending weather. Schedule will vary. 3 months agricultural work experience required. Must be able to perform work which involves lifting boxes weighing up to 60lbs to a height of 5 feet. Must be willing to work in Colorado's severe weather changing climate. Workers are exposed to wet weather early morning through the heat of the day. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers, not severe to stop field operations. Temperatures may vary from 30F to 110F. For safety, alertness, & coordination, no smoking, tobacco, marijuana, or alcohol will be permitted in the fields, workers' housing or anywhere on the business property. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, & insect spray related chemicals may affect workers ability to perform job. Personal cellphone usage to be used before work, during breaks or lunch, & after work hours. All emergency calls will be discussed with Carlos Galicia for personal time.
