Job description

Transplant activities associated with vegetables/fruits plant production. Insure temperature is controlled for optimal for plant growth. Care must be taking during transplanting as plants are tender and subject to break. Workers will insure temperature is controlled for optimal for plant growth and plants are watered as needed.
Planting, Cultivating, & Harvesting Vegetables/Fruits: Duties to include, but not limited to: Workers may drive and operate farm machinery to plant, cultivate, harvest and store vegetables. Attach farm implements such as plow, disc, and drill to tractor and drive tractor in field to till soil and plant / cultivate crop. Perform variety of other duties such as lubricating and repairing farm machinery. May plan and schedule plowing, cultivating and harvesting operations. Plant, cultivate, harvest, & pack vegetables in boxes, buckets & crates. Lay plastic, setting plants, weeding with hoe by hand, driving stakes, grading / sorting and activities associated with vegetable production. Assist in set-up of product for sale of crop. Alternative Work; General farm maintenance and other duties as required in the farming operation maintenance. Includes, but not limited to, preparing barns, draining fields, preparing land for planting, maintenance of tools & equipment, and other work as directly related to the crop activities for which the worker is hired. Also includes fixing, clearing, and painting of fences / barns. Such work will be offered when climate or crop conditions preclude working in the primary activities listed above. Worker may be required to work in fields when crops are wet with dew / rain and should have suitable clothing for conditions which include light rain and temperatures ranging from 30 degrees to more than 100 degrees. Workers should be able to stand, bend, stoop and work for prolonged periods of time and be physically fit to perform duties as assigned. Care must be exercised at all times to prevent bruising or breaking crops. Care must also be exercised in with any use of equipment. Clean fields and greenhouse, remove plastics from fields after harvest season is over.

Special Requirements

The employer will train the workers for a period of two day after which the worker will be expected to work without constant supervision.
Tools and Equipment: The employer will furnish, without charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required in the performance of the specified work.
Workers will be charged for any willful damage or loss of such tools, equipment and housing
Drug Testing
The employer reserves the right for probable cause to conduct random drug testing on any employee after being hired. If the employee is positive for any drugs or refuses to take a drug test, the employee will be subject to dismissal. This testing will be at the total expense of the employer
