Job description

The number of workers needed is 150 and the number of workers needed represents the estimated shortage of domestic workers and, therefore, the number of foreign workers the Employer anticipates will be needed. The Employer will hire all able, willing, and qualified domestic workers through the 50% point of the contract period, and therefore the number of foreign workers hired could be substantially fewer than listed. All domestic and foreign workers will be subject to all E-Verification laws.
Plant, transplant, cultivate, harvest, and/or grade and pack carrots. Grade, sort or classify carrots according to factors such as color, species, length, width, appearance, feel, smell and quality to ensure correct processing and usage. Discard inferior or defective products and/or foreign matter while leaving acceptable products on conveyer for further processing. Carrots continue to be carried through the process on a conveyer where machines will weigh, count and package products. Tie, label and stack on pallets according to the supervisor’s instructions or pack in boxes. Once the box is full, slide down rollers, close, seal and stack the box onto a pallet and place a new box on the conveyer to be packed. Record packing information. Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products to ensure that packing specifications are met. Remove completed or defective products from pallets and place in the assigned area. Monitor and load materials into package processing equipment. Dump untied bags of carrots back into the machine to go through the process again. Clean, pack and load harvested products; place produce into coolers.

It is this Employer's intention to pre-hire drug screen all employees. This has been a long-standing protocol and employment policy with this employer for both U.S. and Foreign workers and is conducted at the expense of the Employer. Foreign workers will be tested during the recruitment process in their home country, and U.S. workers will be notified of the procedure for their drug testing. Note: Drug testing may also be conducted post-employment and at the expense of the employer as stated in accordance with Departmental regulations at 20 CFR sec. 6S5.122(b), This is not a post-employment drug test requirement but a statement outlining that the employer may conduct post-employment drug testing at the expense of the employer.
