Job description
The number of workers needed is 50 and the number of workers needed represents the estimated shortage of domestic workers and, therefore, the number of foreign workers the Employer anticipates will be needed. The Employer will hire all able, willing, and qualified domestic workers through the 50% point of the contract period, and therefore the number of foreign workers hired could be substantially fewer than listed. All domestic and foreign workers will be subject to all E-Verification laws. Job duties are for general farm and harvest labor on a row crop farm.
Onion Row Crop Harvest Agriculture Field Employee:
Weeding (Must be able to walk long distances and identify weeds and remove them by hand, knife, or hoe). Apply techniques as instructed by the employer when carrying out the responsibilities related to harvesting and offloading and binning onions for storage. May ride on harvester to sort debris from onions, walk rows and fields to move ends back. Sorting, picking up debris, dirt clogs, and foreign material from all harvested crops, and picking up produce and product from the fields. Drive and operate trucks for farm, haul from field to farm storage only. Follow instructions; locate and read location and road maps. Pre-inspect truck. Follow all applicable traffic laws. The employee is responsible for basic vehicle maintenance; complies with all safe work practices. Must wear all required and assigned personal protective equipment always when required to do so. Employees must wear proper clothing and footwear depending on the season. All footwear must be closed-toe due to safety precautions.
It is this Employer's intention to pre-hire drug screen all employees. This has been a long-standing protocol and employment policy with this employer for both U.S. and Foreign workers and is conducted at the expense of the Employer. Foreign workers will be tested during the recruitment process in their home country, and U.S. workers will be notified of the procedure for their drug testing. Note: Drug testing may also be conducted post-employment and at the expense of the employer as stated in accordance with Departmental regulations at 20 CFR sec. 6S5.122(b), This is not a post-employment drug test requirement but a statement outlining that the employer may conduct post-employment drug testing at the expense of the employer.
