Job description

Farm Equipment Mechanics and Service Technician

Employees maintain, repair, and overhaul equipment, including vehicles, tractors, pumps, packing equipment, and other farm equipment. Dismantle defective machines for repair, using appropriate tools. Reassemble machines and equipment following repair, testing operation and making adjustments, as necessary. Clean and lubricate parts. Test and replace electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools. Examine and listen to equipment, read inspection reports, and confer with other employees to locate and diagnose malfunctions. Tune or overhaul engines. Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools, milling and woodworking machines, lathes, grinders, or saws. Drive trucks to haul tools and equipment for on-site repair of large machinery. Fabricate new metal parts, using drill presses, engine lathes, and other machine tools. Install and repair agricultural irrigation, plumbing, and sprinkler systems.

Repair and maintenance of equipment: Individuals will be skilled at general maintenance and repair of harvest equipment.

3 months experience, education, or training/orientation is required in order to qualify for any of the above referenced positions.

Perform routine maintenance, setup, cleaning, and repairs on pack house equipment.

Perform computer record keeping, perform maintenance and minor repairs on tractors, trucks, and forklifts.

Special Requirements

This job requires a minimum of 3 months of agricultural experience working as a Farm Equipment Mechanic. Verifiable work experience is required.
