Job description

Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Following the Supervisors instructions, the worker will perform the following tasks

Tractor Work: Disking the fields, Cultivating, Subsoiling, Mowing, Fertilizing

Weeding: Raking, shoveling, hand pulling weeds. Weeds are left in the field, not put in containers.

Planting: Putting plants in pre-dug holes. Fixing dirt around plants. Walking the rows. Loading and Unloading plant in truck. Placing boxes in plant setter. Sitting plant setter to plant.

Packing House Worker: Hand-jack operators: moving sweet potatoes to packing line, moving completed pallets away from the packing line. Wrapping completed pallets and moving pallets to cooler. Dumping boxes onto conveyor belt. Stacking empty boxes on a pallet and taping them up. Empty of sweet potatoes rejected by size and sorter into giant bin. Pick out damaged sweet potatoes on packing line. Stack completed boxes onto a pallet. Forklift Operator. Clean packing line at the end of each day: Sweep floors, clean conveyor belts and machinery, clean drains. Patching Pallets. Sorting out damage sweet potatoes

Sweet Potatoes and Vegetable Hand Picker: Picking sweat potatoes by hand. Filling buckets completely. Carrying filled bucket to truck. Walking long distances, in hot or cold weather conditions. Toping Sweet Potatoes

Plant Setter Machine: Driving planting machines. Riding on back of planting machines: Removing full boxes of plant from truck and stacking them on planting machine. Box Stacker: Loading and unloading full and empty boxes on a truck.

Ticketer: The worker will hand out tickets to the hand harvesters when a full bucket is brought to the truck. The worker will unload a full bucket into bins and drive the farm trucks to haul tools/material, plants, vegetables, shovels, boxes, etc. to the packinghouse located on the farm.

Special Requirements

Drug/Alcohol Testing: EB Harvesting may conduct a drug test post-employment at the employer's expense. Per the Department of Labor O-Net survey for job code 45.2092.02, Job Zone 1, SVP <4.0, the employer requires 1 month verifiable harvesting experience.
