Packing:
The employees place the empty box on the "horse" and with one hand takes fruit from the belt and using the other hand wraps it and places it rapidly into the box until filled. Boxes are
"slid" off onto rollers when filled by use of a release with a quick "lift" that drops the "shelf" holding the filled box. *The Employee does not fully lift the box but does support the weight of the
box during this process. The employees do not reach over their shoulders. Employees may reach with one arm to obtain the next empty box and place it on the “horse”.
Sorting:
Employees may visually inspect pears while passing by on conveyor rolls. Employees pick up any pears if not intended for designated grade and place them on conveyor belts in front of
them for designated grade or down cull tubes at their side.
Other Job duties may include:
1. Employee may repack and strip pack boxes of fruit, sticker containers, bags, and boxes.
2. Employees may place "socks" on fruit.
3. Employees may perform facility cleaning such as sweeping pear leaves, picking up packing paper from the floor, cleaning tables, and picking up pears from the packing line floor.
4. Employees may assemble boxes, and maintain the packing lines stocked with box lids, packing paper, bags for pears, and clips to seal bags in appropriately sized holding conveyors.
5. Employees may pull boxes from the Box Former Machine away and will place them on an empty box conveyer.
6. Employees may manually stack packed boxes on pallets as needed.
7. Employees may weigh containers of fruit on a scale checker.
