Job description
***RFI Response***
Firstly, there has been a scrivener’s error with regard to the word “Installation.” The appropriate phrase is, “All work completed under the direction of a foreman or more experienced worker.” The construction laborer position for Hasslen Construction always works under the supervision of a foreman or more experienced concrete worker. The construction laborers are engaged in all the manual labor job duties at the concrete construction site. First, the construction laborers will unload materials from the trucks or the drop-off location and move them manually to the actual job site. Then the construction laborers will prepare the job site for the placing of concrete by bringing materials to the more skilled workers that read plans, set the forms, and do the layout. A primary job duty is to carry the forms and/or lumber to the exact places on the jobsite where they will be utilized. None of these construction laborers read the plans nor will they do any layout and will only assist more experienced workers in setting the forms and the lumber in preparation for the pour. While concrete is actually being poured, the construction laborers will hustle and move wet concrete to needed locations in concrete buggies or wheelbarrows. The construction laborers will scrape excess concrete off forms and clean it up. Then the construction laborers will spend the rest of their time cleaning up the job site after the concrete has been poured by taking down (stripping) the forms and disposing of the used lumber and other debris when the concrete is fully set. Likewise, when the weather is cold, cleaning up the site requires workers to place blankets over the concrete while the concrete is setting and taking the blankets off the concrete when the concrete is sufficiently hardened. Taking down the forms and lumber, placing and picking up concrete blankets and cleaning up the concrete construction site is very labor intensive and is the construction laborers’ primary job duty. Metal forms are expensive and must be carefully taken down, scraped of leftover concrete, oiled and stacked properly for storage and transportation once the concrete has properly set up. The construction laborers will not operate any heavy equipment and are generally involved in the placement of rough concrete such as foundations that do not require extensive concrete finishing.
