Job description

Install wood structural components, move materials around the construction site, and maintain a clean and orderly work area. Erect and position braces. Clean work areas, machines, or equipment, to maintain a clean and safe job site. Fasten lumber with glue, screws, pegs, or nails and install hardware. Select tools, equipment, or materials from storage and transport items to the work site. Align, straighten, plumb, or square forms for installation. Cut lumber or paneling to specified dimensions. Drill holes in lumber. Position and hold timbers, lumber, or paneling in place for fastening or cutting. Understand and observe all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or coworkers.

May perform other job duties pursuant to 47-3012, Helpers - Carpenters.

F.a.5a-F.a.6b: 35-50 hours/week, 0-10 OT hours/week, OT varies, OT must be pre-approved; 9-hour shifts; 7:00 am to 4:30 pm; 5-6 days/week (Mon-Sat, schedule varies and may include weekends; business is open 6 days/week)

F.c.1: The H-2B Temporary Helper – Carpenters will perform job duties at the following worksites: 130 Delaware Street SE, Lonsdale, MN 55046; 12301 Nicollet Ave. S., Burnsville, MN 55337; 5915 Rice Creek Parkway, Shoreview, MN 55126; 3340 Pilot Knob Road, Eagan, MN 55122. Workers may travel to and work at unanticipated client sites within the following geographic areas: Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington metropolitan area and Southeast Minnesota nonmetropolitan area.

F.d.1: Employer will offer daily transportation to and from worksites, but employee may report directly to the worksite on their own.

Special Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent required. No training or experience required. On-the-job training will be provided.

Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction. Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Good teamwork and collaboration effort. Strong problem solving, multi-tasking and organizational skills.

Must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis; prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping, and reaching is required on a daily basis. A full range of physical motion is required in order to operate manual and electrically powered tools, sprayers, and construction-related equipment. The ability to move throughout the building, including climbing stairs and to work at heights from ladders or scaffolding, in order to perform construction-related work is required.

Work is performed indoors and outdoors, occasionally in environments that are dusty, noisy, or which could have work hazards.
