Job description

Workers will prepare sugarcane for planting, operate farm equipment, and perform other duties and manual labor, such as clearing trees and manual shovel work. Maintain and operate farm vehicles and equipment. Perform field and shed sanitation duties. Work is Mon-Fri 8:00am to 5:00pm, with one hour lunch. Must be able to lift 50
pounds. Work includes extensive repetitive movements: walking, stooping, bending, kneeling and exposure to extreme weather conditions from rain and cold to hot and humid. Tools and equipment are provided at no cost to worker. Work is done in all kinds of weather. Hours may fluctuate due to weather conditions or mechanical breakdowns but will not reduce the 3/4 guarantee over the life of the contract. Housing is provided at no cost for workers who cannot reasonably return to permanent residence at end of workday. Once hired, workers may be required to take a random drug test (at no cost to the worker), as part of fitness for duty and workers safety. Drug testing relates to safety assurance in remote environment. Testing positive or failure to comply with the random drug testing may result in immediate termination from employment. Possibility of work breakdown will not reduce workers guarantee over the life of the contract.
