Job description
On our own farming operation Sept-July:
We are farming operation where we do tiling, and dirt work. We have our own crops to manage. Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, planters, sprayers, operate other farm equipment, load crops and unload crops. Employees will maintain, repair, and overhaul farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems, inspect mechanical equipment to locate damage, defects, or wear, install machine or equipment replacement parts drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes in compliance with state regulations, load or unload trucks or help others with loading or unloading, using special loading-related equipment or other equipment as necessary, maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations, obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required, operate equipment, such as truck cab computers, CB radios, phones, or global positioning systems (GPS) equipment to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers, perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid, performing minor repairs, or washing trucks. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion., Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
While custom combining Sept-Dec:
During the fall we custom combine for the client listed on our itinerary. While working at this custom site employee will only be combining and hauling harvested crops to storage. The employee will not assist with any other job duties while on client worksite locations.
Special Requirements
Employer will conduct post-hire criminal background checks at no cost to the employee and will not employ anyone with a felony/theft criminal background as required by the workplace safety policy and company hiring practices as allowed by law. Employer will conduct post-hire drug tests at no cost to the employee to enforce a drug free workplace policy. Failing a drug test will result in termination. Job requires exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures, extensive pushing or pulling, extensive sitting or walking, frequent stooping or bending over, repetitive movements. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. No driver's license required. Requires 3 months farm experience.
