Job description

Perform any of the following tasks to attend to cattle on farm in a feedlot setting. Monitor all aspects of the feedlot operation including the daily inspection of all waterers and any maintenance needed on the facility itself. Mix feed and additives, fill feed troughs with feed and water for livestock and remove ice formed in water. Examine animals to detect diseases and injuries. Vaccinate animals by placing vaccine in drinking water or feed using syringes and hypodermic needles. Apply medications to cuts and bruises, spray livestock with insecticide. Bind or clamp testes or surgically remove testes to castrate livestock. Clip identifying notches or symbols on animal, or brand animal, using branding iron, to indicate ownership. Routine maintenance on all equipment used in the feedlot including payloader, tractor, mixer wagon, and semi-trucks. Worker will also help with the shipping and receiving of cattle as well as hauling the feed to the cattle. During the fall and spring, workers will be cleaning pens which includes the hauling and spreading of manure on our farm. Drive to town to pick up supplies for the cattle. Livestock: Beef Cattle

Special Requirements

Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion.
