Job description
We run 140 cow/calf pairs and 10 bulls for a total of 290 cattle, when calving is complete. We bring our cattle home in October from pasture and put them in a calving lot, where they are confined. We start calving March 15th to May. When calving is complete we load all the cattle up and take them back out to pasture where all daily chores end. Job duties will entail; feeding everyday because they are confined, checking fence everyday, cleaning & bedding calving barns, and cleaning & bedding loafing barns. Employees will also assist in birthing, tagging, and vaccinating new born calves, moving newborns to postmaternity lots, working and sorting cattle, checking the herd every 3 hours - 24/7 for cows in active labor. Daily care of orphaned calves, daily maintenance of feeding machinery, and keeping accurate records of cattle is also necessary. Employees will need to complete general farm duties as assigned. Employees will need to complete routine repairs and maintenance on equipment.
Special Requirements
Employer may provide pay increases for performance and experience at employers discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employers discretion. Job requires extensive walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, frequent stooping and exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Job requires a regular drivers license. Requires 3 months experience.
