Job description

Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties will include working in pecan orchard, and the tree nursery. Pecan Orchard – Duties may consist of picking up tree limbs and debris, applying fertilizer by hand, pruning pecan trees, planting trees, weed removal around orchards with weed eater, and mowers, will also be mowing orchards with a tractor. During harvest, duties include cleaning the orchard for harvest, harvesting pecans and cleaning pecans. Tractors will be used to harvest pecans. Pecan cleaning equipment will be used for cleaning pecans. Workers will also use shovels, weed eaters, chain saws, pole saws, tree pruners, backpack blower, grafting knives, utility vehicle, tractor, tying tool for use with stacking trees, lawn mowers, forklift, rakes, pecan dryers, tree shakers, pecan sprayers, backpack sprayers pecan cleaner, and pecan harvester with tractor. Workers may drive forklifts to move pecans to storage facility located on the farm. Tree Nursery – Duties may include potting trees with pot filling machine, pruning, and staking trees, removal of weeds, fertilizing trees, and moving trees in the nursery, in addition, planting of seed in trays and pots. May drive workers to the store and/or fields.

Special Requirements

Applicants must be 18 years or older. If driving vehicles, a valid drivers license is required. Three (3) months experience needed in driving a tractor or operating a utility vehicle. Employer may conduct a criminal background check on all new employers for employment at the owners expense. Workers must be able to Lift up to 50 lbs. Work in extreme weather conditions. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. The majority of the workday is spent on ones feet and outdoors. Workers may stand in one place for any period. Extensive walking. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach. Work is performed in outdoors agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold, and other natural elements.
