Heavy Equipment Operator

Job description

Duties will include:
1. Operation of an excavator in forest road construction and maintenance work as well as operation of a forwarder for loading, transporting, and unloading felled logs.
2. Manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on equipment.
3. Repair or replace defective parts as needed. Check equipment to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order. 4. Inspect loads to ensure that timber is secure.
5. Handle equipment carefully to prevent damage.
6. Clean/maintain lights, windows, mirrors, and vehicle exterior.
7. Add engine oil and fuel as needed.
8. Drive in both on-road (paved) and off-road conditions. May occasionally drive pickup trucks.
