Job description

Position includes spending long hours on the road during on and off duty hours in a tractor-trailer truck with 80,000-pound maximum Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) with a sleeper berth that has been deemed adequate sleeping facilities. Position includes a continuous tour of employment as a team or solo driver that begins on the contract’s beginning date of need and ends on the contract's last date of need. Weekly hours will vary, but will generally be 7 am to 7 pm, to include off-duty breaks. Sunday work may be required. Drivers will operate within a full day’s travel of worksite. Some extended distance pick up and/or delivery locations will be required. Duties include driving tractor-trailer from product pickup locations to product delivery locations safely on public and interstate highways, maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, verify security, safety and proper care of the tractor-trailer and of each product load including any product care instructions required per product Bill of Laden. In addition, complete pre- and post-trip safety inspections with documentation and other common paperwork, perform minor maintenance and safety duties for the tractor-trailer common to Heavy and Tractor-Trailer Truck Drivers (e.g., add fluids, change windshield wipers, etc.), accurately complete all employer weekly driver and truck activity paperwork, use electronic logging device (ELD), read and interpret maps to determine vehicle routes and use global positioning systems (GPS) to successfully navigate to a specific location. Upload required weekly documents via employer provided app. All duties will be performed while complying with the Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Hours-of-Service regulations. Drivers are required to work approximately the maximum weekly hours allowed by hours-of-service regulations. Employer will not force dispatch a new dispatch order and Driver is free to accept or to not accept any new dispatch order based on driver’s readiness and willingness at the time that a new dispatch order is offered. Drivers will be scheduled and also self-manage off-duty time at varying hours and be relieved of duty after securing their load and free to spend time predominantly for their benefit choosing activities of their choice, including sleeping, retail dining and shopping, reading, using a mobile device, walking, etc. Drivers must request days off at least 5 days in advance. Vacation requests must be made at orientation and approved and scheduled by the employer. End-of-contract bonus pay is at the employer’s discretion.

Special Requirements

Employer-paid drug testing required of foreign and domestic workers prior to commencing work and post-hire at random, upon suspicion of use, and post-accident. Must possess or be able to obtain a Class A CDL or equivalent.Requires twelve months of CDL or equivalent truck driving experience.
