Industrial Truck, Tractor, and Equipment Operators - Temporary, full-time employment from October 1 to June 30 with Raceland Raw Sugar, LLC in Raceland, Louisiana. Transport excess bagasse from temporary piles near the raw sugar mill to the secondary temporary storage area using front-end loaders, bulldozers, excavators, and trucks during the Louisiana Sugar Harvest Season (October 1 to mid-January). Once harvest is completed, workers will relocate the excess bagasse from the temporary storage area to the permanent storage area utilizing the same equipment as before. Front-end loaders, bulldozers, and excavators are used to pile bagasse and then load it into trucks. The trucks relocate the bagasse to the permanent storage area, where the truck dumps onto a cement slab, also known as the permanent pile. A minimum of 3 months experience is required in the job offered. CDL or its foreign equivalent is required. A single workweek will be used in computing wages due. Wages are paid bi-weekly. No minimum education is required. No on-the-job training is provided. Optional on-site lodging offered at no charge to workers hired in this temporary seasonal position. All Local, State and Federal Taxes will be deducted from employee’s paycheck as stated in the law. If necessary, any advances of pay will be deducted according to an agreement between employer and employee. Transportation (including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging) to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed, if the worker completes half the employment period. Return transportation will be provided if the worker completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $15.46 per day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 per day with receipts. The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job. Daily transportation to and from the worksite will be provided by the employer. Raceland Raw Sugar, LLC is a producer of raw sugar and molasses. We process sugarcane into these two products by crushing the cane and utilizing the juice collected. The byproduct of this process is bagasse. Bagasse is the fiber material that is left over after the cane has been crushed and juice is collected. Much of the bagasse is used as fuel in our boilers; however, what is not burned is transported pneumatically and piled up during the harvest season at a temporary site across the highway from the mill site. The storage area that we have is only enough to hold one crop of excess bagasse. Once harvest is completed, we continue relocating bagasse from the temporary storage area to the secondary or permanent storage area. This process is ongoing from approximately the middle of January through June. By June 30, we will have the temporary storage area cleared, and all excess bagasse will be in the permanent piles allowing the mill to be ready for the next sugarcane crop, which will begin in September.
