Job description
Field Worker Duties:
• Harvesting with a harvest crew and with a harvest machine, the following items: baby spinach, baby lettuces that includes 5-7 varieties, baby mustards that are 3-5 varieties. These workers will also perform the following duties: receiving totes with harvested product and stocking per pallet on the harvest trailer, packing on the harvest machine, operating farm tractors and harvest machines, walking in the fields ensuring fields are clear for harvest.
• Working in the yard and cooler area loading and unloading pallets with product from the fields, loading clean and empty containers for the harvest tractors, loading and unloading the trucks from our company and also external truck companies, making sure they are in good condition before load/unload.
• Irrigators will have the ability to handle a high pressure water pump and run it during a labor day, opening and closing irrigation valves and taking care of the sprinkles and clearing ditches; use an atv or company vehicle if necessary. Valid CA driver license will be required if off the fields.
• Planting all the same varieties of baby leaves mentioned above and be able to operate a farm tractor, filling and checking the planting mechanical machine being used for this job duty. Driving a company vehicle may be necessary. Workers who have a valid CA driver’s license will be able to complete the tasks. Workers without a valid driver’s license will perform the other duties listed that do not require a driver’s license.
Special Requirements
Minimum Job Qualifications: 3 months harvest experience in any commodity listed. Workers must be able to lift 50 lbs frequently. Work is performed outdoors in open fields and can involve exposure to sun, wind, mud, dust, heat, cold and other elements of the normal outdoor grove environment. Temperatures can range from 20 degrees F to over 100 degrees F during the period of employment. Workers should come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear for the work and working conditions described.
