Farmworkers And Laborers, Crop, Nursery And Greenhouse

Job description

Workers will be harvesting Serrano Chili, Green Tomato, White Corn, Blackberry and Strawberry. The following are the job duties for each crop.
SERRANO CHILI:
-Cut chili from plant by hand;
-Put crop in a 5 gallon bucket;
-Once bucket is full, take bucket to table for packaging.
-Empty bucket weights 2 lbs. / Full bucket weights 30 lbs.

GREEN TOMATOES:
-Pull vegetable from soil by hand;
-Place vegetable in a 5 gallon bucket;
-Once bucket is full place, take bucket to table for packaging.
-Empty bucket weights 2 lbs. / Full bucket weights 20 lbs.

CORN:
-Hold the corn stalk firmly with one hand and use a knife or shears to cut the stalk about 1-2 inches above the ear of corn;
-Place vegetable in carton, once carton is full take to person on trailer to stack carton on pallet.
-Empty carton weights 2 lbs. / Full carton weights 38 lbs.
-Carton dimensions are 16" W x 18" L x 24" H

BLACKBERRY:
-Check fruit for maturity and grasp the ripe fruit between the fingers and give it a slight twist or pull.
-Place fruit in a 1 gallon bucket, and once full take to table for packaging.
-Empty bucket weights 1 lb. / Full bucket weights 3 Lbs approximately

STRAWBERRY:
-Check fruit for maturity and cut ripe fruit by hand or with harvesting knife;
-Place fruit in plastic container, once plastic container is full place container in carton and continue process until carton is full with 8 small plastic containers;
-Take carton to table for to be put on pallet.
-Empty carton weights 2 lbs. / Full carton weights 8 lbs.
-Carton dimensions 20" L x 12" W x 3" H

Work Schedule at worksite located at 1220 Perkins Road, New Cuyama, CA:
Monday thru Friday from 5:30am to 9:30am and then again from 5:30pm to 7:30pm
Saturdays from 5:30am to 11:00am

Work Schedule for worksite located at 2791 Vineyard Trail Road, Santa Maria, CA:
Monday thru Friday from 7:00am to 1:30pm
Saturdays from 7:00am to 12:30pm

No work on Sundays for both worksite locations.

Special Requirements

No special machinery or equipment will be used for the harvesting of the crops.
Employer will provide all necessary tools and supplies for the harvesting of the crops at no cost to the worker.
