Job description
Hosts will welcome patrons, seat them at tables or in a lounge, and help ensure quality of facilities and services. A host shall: answer telephone calls and make patrons' dining reservations; greet and direct patrons to coatrooms and waiting areas; inform patrons of establishment specialties and features; assign patrons to tables according to needs; speak with patrons to ensure satisfaction with food and service and respond to complaints; provide guests with menus and assist other restaurant workers by serving food and beverages, or by bussing tables; assist chefs or caterers with food or drink preparation using flat and propane burners and grills, ovens, toasters, deep friers, steamers, microwaves, food processors and grinders, and espresso and soft drink machines that will help the workers prepare food and drinks for patrons, ranging from informal coffee, pastries, pizza, hamburgers and fries, to more formal charcuterie boards, grilled vegetables, and fish and steaks; confer with management and staff to help plan menus; inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup; inspect and maintain restrooms for cleanliness and availability of supplies; maintain contact with patrons, staff, and management to ensure dining details are handled properly and patrons concerns are addressed; operate cash registers to accept payments for food and beverages; prepare cash receipts after closing, and making bank deposits; supervise and coordinate activities of dining room staff to ensure patrons receive prompt and courteous service; prepare and process to-go orders.
Special Requirements
Familiarity with English language. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and stand or bend for all or most of work shift.
