Job description

Perform duties like: Move cattle from summer pasture to winter pasture in November. Separate cattle into groups and different pastures. Wean calves. Feed cattle. Separate and transport cattle to market. Clean feed alleys. Clean water tanks. Keep feed pushed up for cattle. Haul straw for bedding of barns. Bed barns for calves during inclement weather. Vaccinate cows and calves. Monitor, fill and maintain round bale feeders and feed wagons. Maintain and repair feed equipment, including wagons, skid loaders, telehandlers, manure spreaders and payloaders. Monitor electric for fences. Monitor, fill and maintain mineral feeders. Inspect livestock for illness/injuries. Monitor quality of pastures. Prepare barns for winter weather. Snow and ice removal. Open frozen water tanks. Inspect, maintain, repair and replace gates. Clean barns of straw pack and haul to composting building. Assist veterinarian. Ear tag calves for identification. Treat illness/injury and maintain health records. Monitor during calving season and maintain birth records. Maintain and repair lanes to woods, winter fields. Prepare summer pastures for grazing. Drive to town to pick up cattle supplies.
Equipment : Skid loaders, Telehandlers, Payloader, Manure Spreader.

Special Requirements

Minimum of 1 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires drug screen post hire at employers expense due to the liability of handling cattle. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to the presence of children on the farm and expensive tools and equipment. Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion.
