Job description
During this period of confinement, we need an additional employee to assist with cattle. Daily routine consists of up to 4 hours to mix feed, silage, and grain. Chop hay and mix liquid supplements. Another 3 hours to maintain drinking water and ice formed on water needs to be removed. Vaccination of the animals by placing vaccine in drinking water or feed by using syringes and hypodermic needles. Haul 6 large bales of hay 1/2 mile to feeding troughs. Additional 1-2 hours to clean stalls. Stalls are cleaned with a brushes and disinfectant solutions. Manure is removed by handheld shovels onto the tractor for removal. Workers do extensive walking throughout the herd to check for any health issues. Administer medication as needed. Calving: Clip them to prepare for calving. Assist during delivery which can take up to 2 hours. Cows needs to be monitored for 24 hours after birth. Bind or clamp testicles or surgically remove testes to castrate livestock. Use branding iron, clip identifying notches or symbols to indicate ownership. Maintain buildings and equipment. Maintain breeding, feeding and cost records. Employer may provide pay increases for performance and experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
Special Requirements
Job requires extensive walking, repetitive movements, and exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures. Require a regular drivers license and 3 months experience.
