Job description

Workers must be able to plant, cultivate, and harvest anise, carrots, collards, kale, leeks, parsley, cabbage, honeydew, eggplant, arugula, cilantro, dandelion, kohlrabi, methi leaf, parsley root, watermelons, onions, beets, celery, dill, daikon, mustard, radishes, cantaloupe, and peppers. Workers will participate in land preparations including discing, plowing, chiseling, floating, leveling, spreading dry and liquid fertilizers, rowing up bed rows for planting, disc bedder & bed shaper, lay water drip tape for planting, lay plastic for certain crops, incorporate herbicides and insecticides before planting, planting crops and wind breaks, irrigating with drip systems and flood irrigation, and injecting fertilizers & insecticides. Workers will also cultivate, participate in irrigation activities, making drain for watering for heavy rains, weeding, thinning & trimming, and cleaning permanent wind breaks on farm. Workers will help harvest when needed and keep the farm clean performing general farm labor. Workers may also pull harvest trailers on farm and spot spray herbicides on weeds. Workers may be asked to perform minor repairs and maintenance on tractors, equipment, and drip stations.
Workers will navigate the fields via GPS, assist in land preparation and keeping the farm and equipment clean. Workers are expected to possess the skill work in the production of crops listed. The introductory period for all work and to familiarize workers with job specifications and to demonstrate proper harvest methods and other crop specific issues. Workers must adhere to all safety rules as instructed by the supervisor. Workers must take care to handle tools, equipment and produce in a manner to avoid injury or damage. The employer will comply with all federal, state, and local safety requirements. Operational specifications can change during the season due to crop or market condition. Workers will be expected to conform to the specific instructions given for each day’s work. Instructions and general supervision will be provided by the employer each day. Workers will have close supervision to insure adherence to instructions. Work will be closely monitored and reviewed for quality. Daily individual work assignments, crew assignments and location of work will be made by the employer or designated employees as the needs of the operation dictate. Workers may be assigned a variety of duties in any given and different tasks on different days.

Special Requirements

Three-month experience in manually Planting, Cultivating, Harvesting, and packing; variety of peppers, cucumbers, eggplant, cabbage, specialty peppers, watermelon, anise, carrots, collards, kale, leeks, parley, cilantro, radishes, onions, and cantaloupe. Workers must be 18 years or older. The employer may conduct a criminal background check on all new applicants for employment. (Owner's Expense) All tools, supplies, and equipment will be provided at no cost to workers. lifting requirement of up to 40 lbs. Workers may be offered more than the standard hours of work in a single workday. Workers may volunteer to work additional hours when work is available. Hours of work may increase/decrease depending on crop yield and or weather and can occur at any time throughout the season. The majority of the workday is spent on ones feet.
