Job description
Workers will perform pollination, detasseling, field maintenance, data collection, harvest, seed processing, and other general farm labor tasks as required. Other duties include: Planting (machine and manually by digging furrow and covering after seed drop), cultivating, and harvesting diversified crops, such as: corn, soy, watermelon, pumpkins, honeydew, kabocha, onions, and other vegetable and fruit crops as required. Workers will weed or thin plants using hoe or gardening tools. Set out poles and strings, wire or twine to build trellises or fences. Position, tie leaves, prune limbs, runners, buds from vines on plants such as cucumber (all cucurbits crops), beans or all vine crops. Set irrigation line, check for leaks, flush out debris and repair lines to irrigate seedlings. May use irrigation trailer, fertilizer injector, sprayers, trailers, farm machines, and operate tractors/farm trucks with implements such as plow/harrow, disk, bed shaper, roll tiller, fertilizer hopper, seed driller/planter, manure/sand spreader and soil spreader, in fields, to till soil, plant, cultivate, and tender for crops. Harvest crops by picking, pulling, cleaning, cutting, sorting, bagging, and boxing.
Special Requirements
The employer may conduct criminal background checks on all new applicants for employment. Workers who drive, must have a valid Drivers License. Workers should come prepared wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental and working conditions described. Cell phone can only be used during breaks, emergencies, and communicated with supervisor when needed. Duties may vary from time to time. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Must be able to work outdoors in direct sunlight and weather conditions will be hot and humid, rain and be exposed to pollen the entire day while performing their required job duties. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach and lift. Lifting requirement is 5-60 lbs. All tools, supplies and equipment will be provided at no cost to the worker. If the employee is unable or unfit to perform the duties listed after a 14-day trial period, the employee will receive
