Job description
Operations are twofold - Hardwood tree planting and assistance with beekeeping.
Tree planting:
Knowledge in planting of trees (hardwood trees), how to use a dibble bar, tree seedling care, and proper planting techniques.
Beekeeping:
Knowledge of bees.
Maintain hives in healthy state. Make divides, build, rebuild, paint, and clean boxes for beehives. Add or remove boxes to and from beehives as needed.
Take inventory for repairs of equipment.
Need to paint and clean equipment.
Order equipment and supplies as required for upcoming season.
Must be able to take stock and adapt the feed for bees colony as required.
Must manipulate and service hive structures. Haul bees to and from different hive locations. Ensure healthy and productive honeybee colonies. Harmonize bees with their natural cycle. Cap and handle combs.
Workers must be familiar with hive tools and smokers.
General yard work around facilities.
Special Requirements
Work is performed outdoors and involves exposure to cold and wet conditions. Some duties might involve extensive pushing or pulling, sitting or walking, frequent stooping and bending over and repetitive movements.
The worker must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire.
Due to the presence of children on the farm and the liability of driving on roads, a drug screening and/or criminal background check will be required post-hire at the employer's expense. Failure to pass drug screening and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment with our company.
All tools, supplies, equipment and special protective clothing such as veils, gloves, and suits will be provided at no cost to the workers. Must have no fear of bees and be non-allergic to bee stings, pollen, honey or other products of the hive.
