Job description

Help the ranch cope with winter weather by moving snow and bedding the feedlot barns. Bed the 6 calving barns each day with straw during calving. The ranch calves between 450-500 head each year so cows must be sorted that are close to calving and assistance given with pre-calving vaccinations. Monitor the cows that are calving andbe able to assist when needed. Pen up each cow and calf after calving in maternity pens and tag and tattoo calves. Monitor the newborn calves for sickness after turned out of barns. Mix rations and run the feed wagon in the feedlot. Assist with performance information of bulls (weights, scrotal measurements, carcass ultrasound, etc.) Get bulls ready for the bull sale the 2nd Saturday of February. This includes cleaning bulls so they can be videotaped prior to the sale in January. Drive cattle to the veterinarian.Livestock: Beef Cattle.

Special Requirements

Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion.
