Job description

Construction laborers assist in the construction of hardscape elements such as pathways, patios, mortarless segmental concrete masonry wall units. Using hand tools such as shovels and picks, workers will excavate area where wall units will be placed to create planter boxes or other segmental walls designs per plans. Prefabricated mortarless segmental wall units will be placed by hand following standard crisscross or overlap design. Prefabricated temporary security fence panels either of 6’x8’ chain-link with attachable stands or plastic excavation fence roll with posts will be placed around excavated areas to prevent entrance into open holes or ditches.

Here is a description of some common tasks performed by construction laborers: • Site Preparation: Construction laborers help prepare construction sites by clearing debris, removing obstacles, and setting up safety barriers and signs. They may also assist in the excavation and grading of the land and place barriers to prevent erosion. • Material Handling: Laborers are responsible for transporting construction materials, tools, and equipment to and from the work area. This may involve loading and unloading materials, operating forklifts, or other machinery, and organizing the materials on site. • Installation of Seasonal Decorations: Depending on the location and client preferences, winter construction may involve the installation of seasonal decorations like holiday lights, wreaths, or garlands. Laborers may be responsible for safely installing and maintaining these decorations. • Demolition: In cases where existing structures need to be demolished, construction laborers assist in tearing down and removing materials. This may involve using hand tools, power tools, or heavy machinery to safely dismantle structures and dispose of debris. • Hardscape Installation: Construction laborers assist in the construction of hardscape elements such as pathways, patios, retaining walls, and fences. They may help with measuring and marking the layout, mixing, and pouring concrete, and laying pavers or stones. • Snow Removal: One of the primary responsibilities during winter is to remove snow from driveways, pathways, and outdoor areas. This may involve shoveling, snow blowing, or operating snowplows to clear the snow and create safe walking and driving surfaces. • Assisting Skilled Workers: Laborers provide support to skilled tradespeople such as carpenters, electricians, landscapers, and plumbers. They may help with measuring, cutting, and fitting materials, running cables or pipes, or any other tasks as directed. • Cleaning and Maintenance: Construction laborers are responsible for keeping the work area clean and organized. Special Requirements
