Job description

Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties found in SOC Code 45-2092 Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery, and Greenhouse; SOC Code 45-2041 Graders & Sorters, Agricultural Products; and SOC Code 45-2091 Agricultural Equipment Operators. The majority of the work activities during the overall contract period, however, will be related to post-harvest cleaning, sorting, and packaging of harvested crops such as beans, corn, and grain.
Duties will include the following responsibilities: operate equipment such as conveyors or other industrial material moving equipment to perform post-harvest tasks; set up material handling gear or equipment, such as rigging, packaging, or temporary structures; use forklifts, skid steers, sorting tables, transfer augers, suction gates, shovels, pitchforks, hand trucks, hand tools, power tools, etc.; make minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on agricultural machinery and equipment; load/unload trucks/trailers/railcars; load/unload/move/sort crops, products, materials, containers, tools, equipment, supplies, etc.; load hoppers, containers, or conveyors to feed machines with products; fill containers from spouts or chutes; monitor/guide product flow and ensure proper movement of products; observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions and report problems; manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery; convert tables to proper size; examine and inspect containers, materials, or products; assemble, line, and pad cartons, crates, boxes and containers; position boxes or attach bags at discharge ends of machinery to catch products, removing and closing full containers; discard diseased, rotting, inferior product and foreign matter; grade/sort/wash/clean/weigh/inspect products; place/guide product into buckets/bags/containers/packaging; measure and/or count products and materials; record product, grade, identification number, weight, and other information on specified forms/records/containers/tags; seal/label containers or materials; remove boxes/bags/containers from conveyor belt and place/stack on pallets; stack boxes/bags/containers in patterns; count the number of boxes/bags/containers placed on a pallet; ensure correct size is being stacked; wrap pallets and move to staging area; lift, move, and carry boxed/packaged products; prepare and load agricultural products for shipment; inspect cargo to ensure it is properly loaded or secured; break down cardboard/boxes/containers; maintain, clean, and repair equipment/structures/grounds/work areas/containers/materials/supplies in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed food safety regulations; move catch barrels when full and dump into skid steer for removal from work area; operate passenger vehicle, motor bike, or all-terrain vehicle in the course of performing duties; manage inventory; comply with GAP policies and regulations.
