Job description
Workers will be required to complete seasonal livestock duties including feeding hay, feeding grain, maintaining minerals and salt, ensure cattle have adequate water and check water twice per day for freezing. Workers will be responsible for checking and maintaining the health of the cattle including deworming and administering any necessary medications. Responsibilities will also include separating the cattle into necessary pens and ensuring feeder steers have the correct ration of ground feed and the heifers have daily feeding of grain. Responsibilities will also include feedlot maintenance, i.e. snow and manure removal, inspect, maintain and repair pends, yards and fences, and maintenance on hay and grain feeders. Workers will be responsible for removing and disposing dead animals. Workers will also be responsible for clearing snow in yard and driveway for feed trucks to enter and exit, as well as maintaining snow removal equipment such as snowplow, skid loader and skid loader trailer, tractor and snow blower and wagon. Drive to town to pick up cattle supplies.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 1 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds. Employer requires drug screen post-hire at employers expense due to the liability of driving trucks on public roads. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers expense due to expensive equipment on the farm. Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Frequent stooping is required. Repetitive movements is required. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion.
