Farmworker - Corn Detasseling

Job description

Duties may include: Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Detassel corn: worker will walk down the aisles in the corn fields, detassel the seed corn, remove rogue plants/weeds, and volunteer corn plants from seed corn production fields. The worker must be able to walk several miles per day while pulling the tassel from each corn stalk. The worker must be able to work long hours in all weather conditions including heat, humidity, rain, high pollen, and other harsh conditions. The worker must have the required strength and endurance to complete the work and have the ability to work quickly and skillfully with their hands & other related Farmworker - Corn Detasseling activities as per SOC/OES 45-2092 (onetonline.org).

Special Requirements

Worker has 3 days from date of hire to show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone. Static strength; exert max muscle force to lift, push, pull, unload, carry objects up to 25lbs; may climb, walk, stand, reach, balance, sit, stoop, bend, squat, wash, clean: equip, grounds, area. All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform work described and must be available for the entire period specified and work throughout all areas of intended employment. Variable weather conditions may apply. Bonus potential based on work performance at the sole discretion of the employer.
