Job description

Agricultural Equipment Operator – Onion Harvest, Product Transfer and Storage Operations
Workers will perform duties associated with the production, harvest, handling, transfer, storage, and movement of onions and other agricultural commodities produced by the employer. All duties performed are directly connected to and in support of agricultural operations and harvesting activities.
Workers will operate agricultural equipment including tractors, farm trucks, field transport vehicles, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other agricultural machinery used in onion harvesting and storage operations. Workers will transport harvested onions, onion bins, totes, pallets, field containers, harvest materials, and agricultural supplies between fields, loading areas, storage facilities, packing facilities, and other agricultural worksites operated by the employer.
The movement of onions and agricultural materials is performed as an integral part of the harvesting process and post-harvest agricultural handling of commodities produced by the employer. Transportation duties are limited to the movement of agricultural products, harvest containers, equipment, and supplies between agricultural worksites and are performed in direct support of ongoing agricultural operations.
Workers will assist with harvest activities including loading and unloading onion bins, staging harvested product, transferring onions from field locations to storage locations, organizing storage areas, handling harvest containers, preparing products for storage, and performing related agricultural support activities necessary to maintain harvest operations.
Workers may assist agricultural crews with field activities including harvesting support, field sanitation, moving agricultural equipment, placing and retrieving harvest containers, cleaning fields, removing debris, assisting with irrigation materials, and other duties directly related to the production and harvest of agricultural commodities.
Workers will inspect equipment prior to operation, perform routine servicing, check fluid levels, clean equipment, report maintenance needs, and maintain equipment in safe operating condition. Workers may assist with cleaning, repairing, washing, stacking, and organizing harvest bins, pallets, storage areas, equipment yards, and agricultural facilities.
Workers may operate farm trucks and agricultural vehicles on farm roads, private roads, and public roads when necessary to move agricultural commodities, harvest containers, and agricultural supplies between agricultural worksites operated by the employer. Workers will not perform over-the-road freight hauling, commercial trucking services, common carrier operations, retail deliveries, or transportation services unrelated to agricultural production and harvesting activities.
Operation of CDL-required commercial semi-trucks is not required or will be part of the duties executed by empoloyee.
Workers remain assigned to agricultural operations throughout the work contract and may be directed to perform any agricultural equipment operation, harvesting support, commodity handling, storage preparation, field support, or other agricultural duties encompassed within the Agricultural Equipment Operator occupation as work requirements dictate.
All work performed under this job order is agricultural in nature and is directly related to the production, harvest, handling, storage, and movement of agricultural commodities produced by the employer.

Special Requirements

Specific Job Requirements: The requirement for a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent and six (6) months of verifiable agricultural equipment operation experience is a bona fide occupational qualification directly related to the duties of the position.
Workers will be responsible for operating agricultural equipment and farm vehicles utilized in onion harvest, commodity transfer, storage operations, loading and unloading activities, and movement of agricultural products between agricultural worksites. The equipment utilized in these operations represents a substantial capital investment and requires operators capable of understanding safety procedures, equipment operating instructions, written work assignments, maintenance requirements, and harvest protocols. Any drug testing will be conducted after hire and at the Employers expense.
