Job description
May include but not limited to:
-Manually prepare and plant trees and seedlings
-Spray or inject vegetation with insecticides to kill insects or to protect against disease or with herbicides
to reduce competing vegetation.
-Thin or space trees, using power thinning saws.
-Identify diseased or undesirable trees and remove them, using power saws or hand saws.
-Check equipment to ensure that it is operating properly.
-Confer with other workers to discuss issues, such as safety, cutting heights, or work needs.
-Maintain tallies of trees examined and counted during tree marking or measuring efforts.
Special Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age (to travel)
- Must be willing and able to tolerate very hot or very cold temperatures.
- Must be willing and able to tolerate loud noises.
- Must be able to walk long distances throughout day and be able to perform physical labor.
- Must be able to walk substantially (up to 15 miles/day)
- Must be able to stoop, bend while carrying a pack (up to 50lbs) through rough terrain (non-trail)
- Must be available entire contract period.
- Must be willing and able to travel every 2-3 days along an itinerary.
- May conduct post-hire, employer-paid drug testing.
Special Requirements and Provisions:
- Schedule varies (days of the week and shift times). Additional hours may be offered. May be
required to work weekends.
- Work will be performed at various locations (see list of all counties included in itinerary for
reference).
- Periodic daily or weekly travel.
- Itinerary subject to change depending on weather and external factors.
- Hourly wage is dependent upon on location. See Appendix A for details.
- Employer will pay the highest of all prevailing wages for each worksite location throughout the
entire period of employment.
- Employer may offer a bonus depending on experience and merit.
- Daily Transportation is provided to all worksites from primary worksite.
- Employer provides optional housing, free of charge, to workers who do not reside within a
reasonable commute to primary worksite location.
- Employees are expected to travel every 2-3 days along an itinerary covering AL, DE, FL, GA,
IA, IL, IN, KY, MD, ME, MN, MO, MS, NC, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WV. Itinerary starts in
Colleton County, South Carolina.
