Job description
As included on the ONET website for 39-9011.00 (Child Care Workers), the Child Care Workers are to perform a variety of tasks/duties on behalf of the infant/children within their assigned room. Assistants will look after and spend time with infants/children aged 6 weeks – 5 years old. Child Care Workers will help encourage and engage children in age-appropriate activities such as storytelling, singing, games, and guided play; and help children learn basic concepts such as colors, numbers, letters, shapes, and days of the week. Workers will help children follow daily routines, encourage good behavior and maintain order by supervising children to ensure they are safe at all times indoors and outdoors. Providers will assist in serving prepared meals/snacks provided by our facility cook. The cook will wash all food prep dishes/equipment in addition to sanitizing bottles/sippy cups after use. Our Child Care Workers will ensure food safety during meals and follow health and safety guidelines, to include proper disposal of paper plates/plastic utensils; and rinse cups/sippy bottles if needed in at the room’s sink. Workers may handle laundry duties such as washing, drying, folding, and storing fitted sheets from room cots and classroom soft materials such as clothes used for dressing up, plush toys and plush pillows used for sitting. Additionally, Child Care Workers bear responsibility to daily room cleanup at the end of the day.
Special Requirements
Must lift/carry 40 lbs., when necessary. Must be available to work all staggered 9 hour shifts to ensure children are supervised from drop off through the latest pick-up times. The academy is open M-F from 6:30 AM-6:00 pm. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must complete company provided and paid New Orientation prior to working with summer camp participants. Must complete all state mandated SIDS, CPR, health and safety, and state pre-service training as paid for the employer within 60 days of hire and ongoing industry training requirements. Post-hire background check and employment eligibility (e-Verify) check required of foreign and domestic workers. Must pass State mandated Staff Health Assessment and Medical Report, to include TB test prior to beginning work. Employer may offer more than the stated work hours, depending on weather, business needs, and other conditions.
