Job description
Workers will perform duties related to the care and maintenance of a cattle operation during the winter and spring season. Duties include feeding cattle and providing daily livestock care to support animal health during periods when forage growth is limited. Workers will check, monitor, and maintain water sources during freezing weather conditions and clean pens, corrals, and livestock areas to ensure proper sanitation and safe conditions for livestock. Workers will assist during calving season by preparing and maintaining bedding areas, observing livestock for routine care needs, and assisting with general calving-related activities as directed by the employer. Additional duties include repairing and maintaining fences surrounding pastures, pens, and corrals, maintaining livestock facilities, and performing general farm and ranch upkeep necessary for normal cattle operations. Workers may operate basic farm equipment used for feeding livestock, transporting feed, cleaning facilities, and performing maintenance activities. Workers must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, follow safety procedures and operational instructions, and perform physically demanding tasks including lifting, bending, walking over uneven terrain, and prolonged standing. Workers must be capable of working independently and as part of a team. Duties may vary according to weather conditions and the seasonal needs of the livestock operation. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 3 months experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Operator License Class D Candidate will have 60 days to obtain. Skill Level II Experienced LevelPursuant to the Interim Final Rule (IFR) implementing the new four-level wage system for H-2A occupations, the employer designates this position as Skill Level II Experienced Level, indicating that the job requires prior related experience, independent judgment in performing recurring tasks, and the ability to work with limited supervision. The employer reserves the right to withhold the applicable housing deduction as permitted under program regulations, when approved and disclosed in the job order.
