Job description
The employer is seeking reliable, hardworking individuals to assist with the tomato and tomatillo harvest. Harvester/Driver will conduct simple daily vehicle maintenance checks, pick up workers from employer-provided housing, take them to the worksite, and drive them back to their housing. They will only spend about ten percent of their workday doing these job duties. Other daily duties may include field walking, timekeeping, filling water jugs for the workers when needed and ensuring field sanitation and safety measures are maintained throughout the day. They are required to live in the housing provided by the employer and take workers once a week to the bank and grocery store.
Workers will also perform farming and harvesting activities of tomatoes and tomatillos. Duties may include operating farm equipment such as tractors and field trucks. Duties include general farm labor such as, but not limited to, tying, pulling weeds and cleaning the fields (including removing debris and general field sanitation). Workers should follow safety and farm instructions. This job will be done under varying outdoor extreme weather conditions such as heat, high humidity, direct sunlight, cold weather, possible rain, wind, and exposure to pollen. Repetitive physical conditions such as prolonged walking, standing, heavy bending, stooping, reaching and lifting will be involved on a regular basis.
Special Requirements
Workers must be dependable and punctual and have the ability to stand, bend, and work for long periods outdoors. They must pay attention to detail and quality. Workers must adhere to all safety rules and practice safety in all aspects of work. (Job specific qualifications in Addendum C.)
