Job description
We are a fourth generation farm. We raise wheat, sugar beets, dry edible beans, and red and yellow potatoes. We also operate a potato washplant and packing house that sizes, grades, and bags the potatoes we raise for sales. Employees will arrive in the fall (August-October) when we are about to begin harvest. Job duties will include driving truck to deliver crops to storage, operating tractors, operating potato unloading equipment, including dirt removal equipment and pilers. Following harvest, potato washing and grading activities will begin (November-April). Employees will be responsible for assisting with packaging potatoes for shipment. This will include lifting 50lb bags and boxes of potatoes and stacking them on pallets, loading of potatoes onto railcars and semi trucks with forklifts, and general maintenance of the facility, such as cleaning. During the winter months (November-March) employees may also be asked to assist in the shop with maintenance on tractors, trucks, and implements. In the spring (April-June) employees will assist with planting. Per state regulations, employer is exempt from a commercial CDL requirement for farm plated trucking. No commercial trucking is required. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer. Workers returning for a consecutive season will be paid $19.25/hr if that rate exceeds the current published rate. Employer will pay overtime after 45 hours a week.
Special Requirements
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Job requires a regular drivers license within 30 days of hire. Require 3 months experience.
