Farm Laborer / Agricultural Bus Driver

Job description

The employer is seeking reliable, hardworking individuals to assist with the harvest season (including pre and post-harvest). Main daily job duties include conducting simple daily vehicle maintenance checks (DOT pre-trip inspections), filling water jugs with drinking water for the workers each morning, timekeeping, field walking, and ensuring field sanitation measures are maintained throughout the day. Laborer/Driver will also pick up workers from employer-provided housing, take them to the worksites, and drive workers back to their housing. They will only spend about ten percent of their workday doing driving duties. They are required to live in the housing provided by the employer and take workers once a week to the bank and grocery store. Background check and random drug testing will be post-hire at employer's expense, per DOL/MSPA and DOT requirements.

Workers may also perform farming, harvesting and packing activities of crops such as squash, peppers, watermelon, cucumbers, eggplant and tomatoes. Duties may include field preparation, planting, tying, pruning, weeding, field cleanup, irrigation setup and maintenance, harvesting, packing, other post-harvest tasks, and operating farm equipment. Workers should follow safety and farm instructions. This job will be done under varying extreme outdoor weather conditions such as heat, high humidity, direct sunlight, cold weather, possible rain, wind, and exposure to pollen, soil, mud, dust and other natural elements. Repetitive physical conditions such as prolonged walking, standing, heavy bending, stooping, reaching and lifting will be involved on a regular basis.

Special Requirements

Workers must be dependable and punctual and have the ability to stand, bend, and work for long periods outdoors. They must pay attention to detail and quality. Workers must adhere to all safety rules and practice safety in all aspects of work.
