Job description

Perform complex rigging tasks including selecting and attaching appropriate rigging gear for various load types and sizes; Calculate the load weight and center of gravity for safe lifting operations; Inspect and maintain rigging equipment such as wire ropes, chains, and slings, to ensure they meet safety standards; Ensure adequate site preparation for cranes and other heavy equipment; Communicate effectively with crane operators and other workers, using hand signals and verbal directions to ensure safe load movement; Identify and mitigate risks associated with rigging operations, including understanding load dynamics and working near hazards; Inspect and prepare loads for movement; Set, align, and level heavy equipment machinery; Prepare rigging equipment including beams, pulleys, clamps, and bolts; Maneuver loads in connection with heavy equipment lifting operations, but they do not themselves operate the heavy equipment. The types of loads to be maneuvered may include construction materials, structural steel, piping, mechanical equipment, generators, concrete components, containers, machinery, and other project-related materials and equipment.

The Riggers will instead work in coordination with crane operators and other heavy equipment operators by selecting, inspecting, setting up, attaching, and controlling rigging gear, including slings, shackles, wire rope, chain falls, hoists, pulleys, blocks, spreader bars, hooks, tag lines, and related rigging equipment. They will guide, balance, secure, and manually control suspended loads before, during, and after lifting operations, including through hand signals, radio communication, tag-line control, and other standard rigging practices.

Special Requirements

NCCCO (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) Signalperson (SGP) certification (or equivalent) is required; Familiar with OSHA safety standards and comprehensive knowledge of rigging equipment and heavy machinery.
