Job description

Farm Laborers Workers will perform all duties associated with the planting, cultivating, maintaining, harvesting, grading, sorting, packing, loading, and unloading of seasonal vegetable and row crops, including but not limited to broccoli, mini sweet peppers, ghost peppers, green beans, peas, eggplant, squash, yellow squash, zucchini, corn, tomatoes, tomatillos, jalapeño peppers, okra, turnips, and butternut squash.

Workers will prepare fields for planting by removing rocks, roots, limbs, stumps, trees, and other debris. Duties include planting, transplanting, cultivating, pruning, thinning, hoeing, weeding, lining rows, applying mulch, and performing general field maintenance throughout the growing season.

Harvesting duties include hand-picking crops at the proper size and maturity using knives, clippers, buckets, or other hand tools as required. Workers will sort, grade, count, bundle, pack, load, unload, and transport harvested commodities within the farming operation.

Workers will remove weeds, crop residue, old plastic mulch, drip tape, rocks, trash, and other debris from fields following harvest. Additional duties include cleaning fields, packing shed areas, equipment, bins, and work sites; installing, moving, repairing, and maintaining irrigation pipes and irrigation systems; digging ditches; assisting with field sanitation; and preparing fields for subsequent planting cycles.

Workers may also perform duties related to the production and maintenance of sod and grass, including preparing fields, planting, cultivating, mowing, removing debris, and maintaining farm grounds and common areas.

Workers will use standard agricultural hand tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned duties safely and efficiently.

All work will be performed outdoors under varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, humidity, and direct sunlight. Workers must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods. Workers must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull agricultural products, tools, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 52 pounds, or more with assistance, as required in normal farming operations.

Special Requirements

Two months of verifiable farm work experience required. Work will be performed in extremely hot, cold, and/or wet conditions. Workers must be able to walk, bend, sit, reach, stoop, stand, push and pull, perform repetitive movements, and lift and carry up to 52 pounds. Drug testing is conducted post-hire at the employers expense and is not part of the interview process. Any employee who refuses to take or fails the drug test will be terminated and paid for all hours worked, if any.
