Job description

Perform any combination of the following tasks in order to attend to the horse livestock. Mixing feed and additives, filling feed troughs with feed and watering horses. Take horse to pasture for grazing. Examine animals to detect disease and injuries. Vaccinate animals by placing vaccine in drinking water or feed or using syringes and hypodermic needles. Applies medication to cuts and bruises, sprays with insecticide, and herds them into insecticide bath. Confine horses to stalls; prepares them for birthing, and/or assists in delivery of offspring. Will wash, brush, trim and/or curry to improve appearance. Will administer exercise regimens organized by veterinarians on a daily basis. Clean horse stalls and replace bedding; clean sheds or stalls using disinfectant solutions, brushes, and shovels. Grooms, clips and trims animals for exhibition. Exposure to extreme temp, repetitive movements, extensive pushing, pulling walking and frequent stooping Involves lifting and carrying of 50 lbs frequently May be required to take post hire random drug and/or alcohol tests, at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination. May be required to submit a post hire employer paid criminal background check. Failure to comply or felony convictions that the employer reasonably believes will impair safety of others on the worksite will result in immediate termination. The hours listed represent the normal work schedule. Due to the nature of the duties and weather it is the prevailing practice to work substantially more, less or different hours than those listed, sometimes for extended periods of time. When the number of hours for a week exceeds the number listed then, the worker may be offered, but not required, to work more hours. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on the weekend, a worker’s Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time.
