Job description

Seasonal farmworkers are needed from mid-October through the end of July to support livestock operations during the ranch’s busiest livestock production period. Workers will care for sheep, lambs, goats, and cattle and assist with the increased feeding, breeding, birthing, processing, pasture rotation, and livestock movement that occurs throughout the season.

Duties include feeding and watering livestock, cleaning barns and livestock areas, assisting with lambing and calving, and monitoring pregnant animals and newborn livestock. Workers will identify animals that have given birth and relocate mothers and newborns to bonding pens as needed. Responsibilities also include branding, vaccinating, castrating, skinning when necessary, sorting livestock, and loading animals for transport to pasture or market.

Workers will set up and relocate portable corrals, rotate animals between fenced pastures to maintain proper nutrition and grazing practices, and operate vehicles used to deliver supplemental feed and water. Workers will also repair and maintain water pipelines and troughs and perform general upkeep of livestock areas and ranch property as needed to support the operation. The standard driver's license is Class D.

Applicants must have at least two months of experience handling sheep and cattle and knowledge of animal husbandry practices, including assisting with births and recognizing and monitoring the health and condition of pregnant animals and newborn livestock.

Employees will work eight-hour shifts within a 24-hour period as determined by the employer based on livestock care and operational needs.

Hours listed in Section A.6 are the anticipated hours to be worked. The employer may offer additional work hours or these hours could increase or decrease based on weather conditions, crop delay, pests or disease, crop yield, available labor, and or productivity. Use of electronic devices during work hours is restricted to emergencies only.
