Job description
Workers will operate tractors and specialized agricultural equipment in the production of broccoli, including disk/plow implements for primary and secondary tillage, bed shapers and plastic mulch layers for raised-bed preparation and installation of plastic mulch and drip tape, and boom sprayers and fertilizer spreaders or side-dress applicators for fertilizer, herbicide, fungicide, and insecticide applications in accordance with product labels and grower instructions. Workers will also operate row cultivators for mechanical weed control between broccoli rows; set up, monitor, and adjust irrigation equipment, including pump stations, drip systems, and pivot controls, throughout the growing cycle; and operate flail mowers or shredders to manage field residue and prepare land between broccoli production cycles. Additionally, workers will observe equipment operation, make routine adjustments, and report equipment malfunctions as needed.
Special Requirements
Worker must have three (3) months of experience operating agricultural equipment. Post-employment drug test is paid for by employer when applicable for safety purposes. Must be able to lift and carry 25 lbs.
