Job description

Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by employer
Duties may vary from time to time. Crew leaders will be responsible for crews of workers in the field and following the instructions of their supervisors. Must ensure all workers are operating in a safe manor and working conditions (including weather conditions) that do not pose an unsafe environment for workers, prioritizing the safety of the workers. Will ensure workers have access to adequate PPE (gloves & masks) and potable water and restroom facilities. Must be able to operate the vehicles used to move crops on the farm and should be able to provide proof of accident-free driving record and background.
Will be responsible for transporting workers from designated housing pick-up to the worksite and returning workers to designated housing at the end of the day.
Once a week, crew leaders will transport workers from designating housing to and from grocery, laundry, and banking facility each week. Must maintain all necessary drivers' licenses and Farm Labor Contractor Certificate with transportation authorizations as required by local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Will be logging workers time and accurately track worker production piece/box counts each day as well as logging workers time out at lunch break and at the end of the work day. In the event worker decides to not take a lunch break, crew leader must ensure workers are credited for all the time worked. Must also ensure that housing facilities are maintained in a neat, clean, and habitable condition by the workers. Any intentional damage to company housing, property or equipment should be brought to the supervisors' immediate attention.

Must be able to work outdoors in dusty/dirty conditions, at extreme heat and cold inclement weather.
Must be able to reach, bend and lift items weighing 70 pounds.
Must be able to listen to, understand, and follow simple instructions of supervisors and dispatcher. Must be able to work in fields where ants, snakes and poison ivy may be encountered. Use of personal cell phone or other personal electronic device during working hours strictly prohibited except for work-related calls or emergencies and violation may result in immediate termination. The alternative work is truck maintenance and farm maintenance including the repair, irrigation, vehicles and various equipment and tools used on the farm and help with the manual harvesting activities of the citrus crops.

The worker in order to perform this kind of work must be able to work outside for at least 6 hours a day in all kinds of weather and be in possession of the requisite physical strength and endurance to repeat the picking process rapidly, the employer will provide the tools necessary to perform the described job duties without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the worker’s refusal or negligent failure to return the tools or due to such worker’s willful damage or destruction of the tools.

Employees may volunteer to work additional hours when work is available. Workers should expect occasional periods of little or no work because of weather, crop or other conditions beyond the employer’s control. These periods can occur any time throughout the season. If workers request a leave of absence during the contract period, the hours will be deducted from the hours offered under the ETA 790A for the purposes of the three-quarter guarantee.

A copy of the work contract or a copy of the ETA 790 in lieu of a work contract, and any modifications, will be provided to the H-2A worker no later than the time at which the worker applies for the Visa, or to a worker in corresponding employment, no later than on the day work commences. For an H-2A worker going from an H-2A employer to a subsequent H-2A employer, a copy of the contract will be provided no later than the time an offer of employment is made by the subsequent H-2A employer.

Special Requirements

This type of work, involves working conditions that require tremendous stamina, a high level of physical activity in cold or extremely hot conditions in direct sunlight and in adverse weather such as rain. The work requires a high level of physical conditioning. Due to the type of work involved, there is a Probationary Period of five (5) days beginning with the first day of employment, to show possession of the requisite physical strength and endurance to perform this type of work.
