Job description

Crops/Commodities:
nursery stock, flowers, bedding plants, shrubs.
Worker will help install, repair, and maintain the interior and exterior electrical components of the facility and all equipment required for a commercial greenhouse operation. Worker will have knowledge of single phase and three phase 240-volt systems. Worker will perform semi-skilled and unskilled laboring duties related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems and equipment related to the greenhouse operation in accordance with established safety standards and fire codes. Worker will work with power supplies, install, and repair or replace electrical wiring, receptacles, switches, boxes, conduits, feeders, and line assemblies, lighting, and alternative electrical parts. Worker will analyze and troubleshoot electrical problems with equipment, replace defective parts, reassemble affected equipment and test for proper operation and safety. Worker will examine electrical units for loose connections and broken insulation and tighten connections, using hand tools. Worker will ensure all work meets standards of quality as instructed by supervisor. Worker will monitor performance of equipment and inform management of any potential problems. Worker will maintain necessary work records as instructed by management. Worker will measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit, using measuring instruments and hand tools. Worker will trace out short circuits in wiring, using test meter. Worker will maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment and keep parts and supplies in order. Knowledge of circuitry, variable frequency drives( VFD's ), Programable Logic Controllers( PLC's ) is a plus.

While the employer does not require prospective applicants to take and pass a drug/alcohol test prior to a hiring decision, the employer has a no-exceptions drug/alcohol policy requiring newly-hired employees to take and pass an employer-paid drug/alcohol test. Every new hire must undergo testing before starting work with the company. All testing is conducted uniformly after an initial job offer has been extended and accepted by the new hire. If an employee tests positive, he/she is immediately terminated and paid for all hours worked between the first date of employment and the date of termination, if any. In the case of a non-local or foreign worker who is terminated for failure to pass a drug or alcohol test, the employer will arrange least-cost transportation to the worker's place of recruitment, at the worker's expense.

Employer-paid post-employment random, upon suspicion and post-accident drug and alcohol testing required. Workers may not report for work while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Except for moderate alcohol consumption in company housing during non-working hours, the possession or use of illegal drugs or alcohol on company premises is prohibited and will be cause for termination.Any worker who fails a mandatory drug or alcohol test and is unable to obtain the required licensing as a result will be terminated.

Tobacco use strictly prohibited on company property except for specifically designated areas. No smoking, vaping or tobacco use of any kind permitted in the fields, company vehicles, worker housing, or on company premises. This is necessary to protect against transmission of toxins and contamination from tobacco by-products. Employer reserves the right to discharge any employee found using any type of tobacco product in unauthorized areas. Must wear proper protective footwear that is closed-toe in nature with a non-slip sole, such as work boots or trail-type shoes.

Special Requirements

This job requires a minimum of 24 months of prior electrical experience. Workers must be able to perform all duties with accuracy and efficiency. Applicants must be able to furnish verbal or written statement establishing relevant prior work experience. Saturday work required. Employer-paid post-hire drug and alcohol testing is required uponreasonable suspicion of use. Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. The employee will be required to be able to climb ladders up to 10 tall with proper fall protection and training, as well as be able to be in lift equipment up to 30 in height with proper fall protection and training. The employee will be required to lift 50lbs with proper PPE occasionally and be able to lift 25lbs frequently with proper PPE. Must l have knowledge of single phase and three phase 240-volt systems. Workers that live in employer-provided housing must have or agree to receive a COVID-19 vaccination in accordance with company policy set forth in the Job Order.
