Job description
Agricultural Truck Drivers will load and unload trucks. Deliver products, pick up and disassemble product racks, transport company equipment, sweep and clean trailers. Workers may be required to maintain products such as water. Workers must operate trucks in a careful and cautious manner. Workers caught not doing so will be terminated.
GENERAL CONDITIONS: Work begins at assigned time. Work is performed during light rain and in high humidity and in temperatures ranging from 100 (+) degrees to below 35 degrees F. Workers will work on their feet in bent, stooped, and crouched positions for long periods of time. Workers will make fast, simple, repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists. Workers must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, and/or legs. Workers will use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects, such as potted plants. These could/will weigh 50 lbs. Workers will supply their own work clothes. All the tasks in this Job Description constitute one (1) job; the employer may assign workers to different tasks on any day or to multiple tasks during the same day in the sole judgment of the employer. This is a very demanding and competitive business in which quality specifications must be rigorously adhered to. Sloppy work cannot and will not be tolerated.
The employer retains the right to discharge an obviously unqualified worker, malingerer or recalcitrant worker who is physically able to but does not demonstrate the willingness to perform the work necessary for the employer to grow a premium quality product.
During certain duties, workers may be required to work in teams to accomplish a certain task. When engaged in teamwork activities workers must coordinate with other members of the team to accomplish the task.
Harvesting specifications, in particular, can change from time to time during the season due to crop or market conditions, even on the same crop. Workers will be expected to conform to the specific instructions given for each day’s work. The farm owner/supervisor or a designated employee will provide specific instructions and close supervision. Workers will be expected to perform their duties in a timely and proficient manner and will have close supervision to insure adherence to instruction. Work will be closely monitored and reviewed for quality.
Full Growing Season Commitment: The job offered requires that the worker be available for work 8.5 hours per day Monday- Saturday every day that work is available for the full period of employment shown in Item 9, even though work may be slack for brief periods at any point during the season. The worker agrees to be available for work and perform the assigned work for the employer whenever work is available through the full period of employment. Work available is defined as, no work required on the worker Sabbath or federal holidays, but work is required 8.5 hours per day Monday- Saturday. The first day of the week will begin on Sunday evening, which is considered Monday harvest.
The worker understands that if he abandons his employment or is terminated for cause prior to the end of the period of employment period he will forfeit the 3/4 guarantee and reimbursement of certain transportation costs described elsewhere in this job order. Excessive absences and/or tardiness, as defined in the Work Rules, cannot be tolerated and may result in termination.
Special Requirements
All applicants must possess a valid CDL-A licenses and medical card. Workers must have clean driving record and pass employer paid pre-employment drug test. Failing or refusing to take a drug test will prevent applicants from being hired. Applicants must be able to furnish affirmative job references from recent employers operating comparable operations establishing acceptable previous experience. Must be physically able to meet and perform all job specifications stated in job order. Must be able to work in the hot humid weather for extended periods of time. Per our Drug and Alcohol policy, Workers are subject to random drug testing at no cost to the employee. Failing or refusing a drug test will result in immediate termination.
