Job description

Duties may include: Pull plastic, groundskeeping of facility, operate farm equipment, clean and unload harvested products. Grade and sort products according to factors such as color, species, length, width, appearances, feel for quality to ensure correct processing and usage. Discard interior or defective products and foreign matter and place acceptable products in containers for further processing. Weigh/estimate product for weight visually or by feel. Place product in containers according to grade and mark grades on containers. Measure weight and count products. Examine and inspect containers and materials to ensure specifications are met. Clean and maintain work area, prune trees and shrubbery & other related Nursery Worker activities as per SOC/OES 45-2092 (onetonline.org).

Special Requirements

A 1-Month period of on-the-job training will be available to each worker. Must be 18 due to equipment use. Worker has 3 days from date of hire to show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone. Static strength; exert max muscle force to lift, push, pull, unload, carry objects up to 60lbs (possible 2-person); may climb, walk, stand, reach, balance, sit, stoop, bend, squat, wash, clean: equip, grounds, area. All applicants must be able, willing, qualified to perform work described and must be available for the entire period specified. Based on Employer's discretion/cost: Worker may have random drug/alcohol testing during employment: positive test/refusal to abide = dismissal. Variable weather conditions may apply. Worker must be able to obtain a valid Driver's License in the State of Virginia within 2 weeks of reporting to work.
