Job description
We farm corn, wheat, oats, sorghum, millet, and sunflower. Employee will prepare fields for planting, engage in planting, weeding, spraying and/or harvesting activities, fertilize, dust, and spray crops, guide products on conveyors to regulate flow through machines and to discard diseased or rotten products. Employee will operate farm equipment and attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools; operate tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, manure spreaders and irrigation equipment. Employee will install, maintain and repair pivot irrigation systems; load and unload crops or materials; mix specified materials or chemicals; observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions; record agricultural data; drive trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools. Employee will assist with all aspects of growing these crops, and complete general farm duties as assigned. Employee will need to complete routine repairs and maintenance on equipment. Per state regulations, employer is exempt from a commercial CDL requirement for farm trucking. No commercial or heavy truck driving is required. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
Special Requirements
Job requires extensive walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, repetitive movements, frequent stooping and exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures. Employer will conduct post-hire drug tests at no cost to the employee to enforce a drug free workplace policy. Failing a drug test will result in termination. Must be able to lift 75 lbs. Job requires a regular drivers license within 30 days of hire. Require 3 months experience.
