Job description

Bus drivers will pick up workers, take them to the worksite, monitor the workers to ensure they are working, and drive them back to their housing. They are required to live in the housing provided by the employer and take workers once a week to the bank, grocery store, and the laundry mat. Must have or be able to obtain a farm labor contractor license immediately prior to getting hired. Random drug testing will be post-hire at the employer's expense. Any crew leader (farm labor contractor) employed under this job order must have a valid state and federal Farm Labor Contractor Certificate of Registration and must abide by all the requirements of the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act (MSPA). The employer understands that they are responsible for assuring that all conditions of this agreement are met regardless of any acts or omissions of the crew leader.
Drivers will also drive a loaded watermelon bus and field trucks during watermelon season. All drivers must possess a Class b license or equivalent from their home country. Watermelon bus drivers will drive in the field while the loading crew is filling the bus up. Once full the driver will drive it to the packing house, drive back to the field, and repeat this process.
Drivers during sweet potato harvest will drive flatbed field trucks and semis and will be required to drive the semi to the packing house. Drivers will drive in the sweet potato field while the workers are filling up the sweet potato boxes. once full drivers will drive to the unloading site or packing house and get unloaded by the forklifts. Drivers will then drive back to the field repeating this process.

Special Requirements

Prolonged walking, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching. The job is outdoors and continues in all types of weather. Workers may be requested to submit to random drug or alcohol tests at no cost to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or testing positive may result in immediate termination. All testing will occur post-hire and is not a part of the interview process. Negative results may be required post-hire and before commencing work. Must be able to lift 75 lbs. to shoulder height repetitively throughout the workday and able to lift and carry 75 lbs. in the field. Must not hinder another worker's productivity. Use of personal cell phone or other personal electronic device during working hours is strictly prohibited except for work-related calls or emergencies, and violation may result in immediate termination. Requires three-month verifiable prior farmworker experience in the crop activities listed. Class B driver license is required.
