Job description

Work and function as the face of Torch Lake Café and represent our brand at all times.
Create a positive, enjoyable, and memorable experience for each customer.
Provide exceptional service and experience to customers with excellence, friendliness, and experience
Maintain a customer focus while performing duties and ensure each customer feels welcome, important, comfortable, and relaxed.
Smile and make eye contact with customers.
Monitor entrance for new customers
Learn the names of and personally recognize and acknowledge our regular customers
Arrive to work in a neat and presentable manner
Ensure the restaurant (including the porch and outside area) is clean and presentable. At the beginning of each shift, FOH Support Staff must check and ensure that trash and other disposable items are removed from guest areas.
Know the restaurant’s menus and be able to answer questions and suggest items based on the needs of each customer
Assist customers with food and beverage selections by offering suggestions, identifying wines, explaining the features of each dish, and answering any food prep questions.
Learn and effectively use the POS system
Maintain table settings by clearing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, side plates, condiments, etc. as necessary.
Keep non-alcoholic beverages refilled and offer additional beverages before glass is empty
Know wines, be familiar with proper wine service and selection, and be comfortable opening and pouring wine tableside
Ensure correct food is served to each customer, paying close attention to details
Work closely with BOH (back of the house) Support Staff to ensure the best customer experience
Help other support staff when available, always working as a team with all staff
Promptly address any customer service issues, informing FOH Manager of any potential issues immediately
Close out each table by delivering bill, accepting payment, returning change or credit card slip to the customer, and thanking them and inviting them to return.
Efficiently use time and not socialize while clocked in
Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of server stations and the dining room(s)
Clean anything that needs to be cleaned
Perform all opening and closing duties to ensure duties to ensure cleanliness and smooth operation of restaurant
Follow safe food handling procedures
Be punctual for all scheduled shifts and be available to work weekends, holidays and nights
Attend schedule staff meetings
Assist staff with other duties as needed
Approach tasks and deadlines with focus, a sense of urgency, and attention to detail
Be accountable and demonstrate honest and ethical behavior at all times
Show respect and sensitivity for diverse employee and customer base
Safeguard sensitive, private, and confidential customer, employee, and company information
Report any employee, customer, or equipment problems to FOH Manager in a timely and constructive manner
Maintain a friendly personality and positive attitude
Be flexible and open to change
Work efficiently and well with others
Demonstrate strong communication and organization skills with keen attention to detail
Follow directions and be able to work unsupervised
Possess high personal hygiene standards
Demonstrate ability to work under pressure and resolve conflict
Be able and available to work long hours/days
Be able to work on your feet for long periods of time
Be able to frequently and safely lift and easily maneuver trays weighing up to 25 pounds;
