The fish processors work in a commercial fishery’s on land processing facility processing commercially caught fish. The processing involves all the steps necessary to take a freshly caught fish and scale, gut, debone and fillet the fish to get it ready for wholesale or retail sale. Processors start with a complete fish and quickly process it until they have fish filets or other cuts of meat which can be sold. Fish processors use hand knives as well as some processing machinery such as scalers to perform these tasks. Big Stone Bay fishery is a freshwater operation and deals primarily with trout, salmon and whitefish.

Process fish for commercial fishery, use hand knives and fish processing machinery to perform routine cutting and trimming. Will wash, size and grade the seafood and load the processed seafood onto freezer baskets and into cartons for shipping.
Special Requirements
Must be able to lift 25 lbs
The specific days and hours of work will vary depending on scheduling and the level of business but will generally be 5 days per week with rotating days off from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm approximately 35 hours per week with possibility of some overtime. The business is open 7 days a week. Weekend work will be required.
